November 25 1974
UK singer, songwriter Nick Drake died in his sleep aged 26 of an overdose of tryptasol an anti-depressant drug. Drake signed to Island Records when he was twenty years old, recorded the classic 1972 album Pink Moon. In 2000, Volkswagen featured the title track from Pink Moon in a television advertisement, and within a month Drake had sold more records than he had in the previous thirty years.

November 25 1968, The Beatles double White album was released in the US. Featuring 'Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da', 'Dear Prudence', 'Helter Skelter', 'Blackbird' 'Back In The USSR' and George Harrisons 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. The album spent 101 weeks on the US chart peaking at No.1.

wow...the white album....where would we be without it? The ninth studio album from The Beatles was (arguably) the best thing they ever put to wax. Terrifying highs and dizzying lows take the listener on a wild musical journal, never really experienced in music by this point. Even the sleeve it came in, all white with no printing, a design by Richard Hamilton, was revolutionary at the time. In 2003, the album was ranked number 10 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time". The album saw all the members of the band blossoming as songwriters, and develop the sound they would pursue in their solo careers.

The historical significance of this amazing album cannot be underscored....First off, lets not forget Charles Manson, who believed the lyrics on the album, where an apocalyptic message predicting a prolonged race war, and that it was okay to kill rich people. Not quite what the lads had in mind....The album would go on to influence many saner (well, maybe a little) musicinas to create countless pieces of music and art, so inspired by the emotions that listening to this timeless gem provoke...
